Interns
Bailey Nurseries is one of the nation's largest growers of ornamental trees, shrubs, evergreens, perennials and annuals, with locations in Minnesota and Oregon. We grow bareroot and container nursery stock and specialize in supplying the needs of independent garden centers, growers, landscapers and re-wholesalers. Every year we accept up to 12 students for our Summer Internship Program and some for our Spring Program. This program was developed to give students of Horticulture and related fields the opportunity to explore the plant industry along with a chance to apply classroom theory with practical experience.
Our Summer Program is a mixture of technical training, classroom studies, and hands-on experience. We also have a series of in-house seminars that give further insight into our business and production operations. We will tour a number of other interesting and informative local nurseries, retailers, growers, landscapers and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
Our Spring Program is a total immersion into the excitement and intensity of our busiest season of the year! Available from March to June, the program places you in a position of responsibility at one of our main shipping sites at our Minnesota location. There is no better way to truly understand the nursery industry than being a part of our spring shipping season when over 4000 customers across the country all need their stock at the same time!
All interns are paid employees, housing and transportation are to be arranged and paid for by the interns. We prefer our interns start between mid-February and mid-April and finish their internship some time between mid-July and mid-November. Starting and ending dates are quite flexible.
Interns keep a daily log and prepare a paper for presentation on a horticulture-related project. Subject matter will be discussed and approved by their department manager.
If you are interested in our Internship Program, please contact us, indicating the time frame preferred (start and completion dates), your objectives for the internship, and a resume indicating your education and/or work experience. The number of internships offered is limited, so contact us as soon as possible.
Thank You for your Interest!
