Propagation
In 1981, Bailey Nurseries centralized our Minnesota propagation operations at one location, the Nord Farm in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Here, over 4.6 million tree and shrub seedlings are grown each year in our seedbeds. Our greenhouses hold over ten million evergreen, hardwood and softwood cuttings that are rooted each year for sales and our own production needs. Over eight acres of bedding plants are produced each spring before the greenhouses are turned over to softwood propagation in summer. Over 248,000 flats of annuals and vegetables and 80,000 hanging baskets are grown each year. Nord also houses production of the over 150 varieties of perennials we produce each year in flats of 4½".
