Glossary
Banner - A sign printed on scrim vinyl that is intended to be hung. Banners may be either vertical or horizontal in orientation.
Bench Card - A 7" × 5" sign printed on vinyl and mounted on styrene. Bench cards typically have an image and description of a plant, but can be customized to promote anything.
Bench Tape - Long roll of printed material that can be used to decorate the edges of displays. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Billboard - A 11" × 7" sign printed on vinyl and mounted on styrene. Billboards typically have an image and description of a plant, but can be customized to promote anything.
Corex - (1) 4mm corrugated plastic used for mounting signs; suitable for indoor or outdoor use. (2) A 16.5" × 23.5" sign printed on vinyl and mounted on 4mm corrugated plastic.
Coroplast - Another name for corex.
Fixture - Device used for displaying signs.
Foamcore - Lightweight, rigid surface composed of smooth paper sheets sandwiched around a foam core; designed for indoor use only
Gatorboard - Heavier duty version of foamcore; it may be used outdoors if treated and sealed.
Magnetic Sign - Sign printed on vinyl and mounted to a magnetic backing.
Poster - 24" × 34" sign printed on vinyl and mounted on corex; suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
Scrim Vinyl - Durable, fade-resistant material used for printing banners. Depending on the application, it can be either matte or glossy and used indoors or outdoors.
Sidewalk Graphic - Graphic mounted to a sidewalk or floor that is covered by an anti-slip laminate
Sintra - Lightweight, rigid, closed-cell PVC material used for mounting signs; suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
Styrene - Polystyrene sheet used for mounting vinyl.
Vinyl - Durable, fade-resistant material that is printed on and mounted to backing materials such as styrene or corex.
Window Cling - Clear vinyl - printed on one side - that statically adheres to glass.
Window Perf - Perforated vinyl printed on one side with adhesive on the other. Light passes though the perforations and creates the illusion of a solid image from the outside, yet allows you to look out from the inside.
